Explore the genesis of Crisiswear, born from a commitment to cutting edge designs and superior craftsmanship.
Your Questions, Answered
Absolutely. Everything we sell is made right here at our small (but dark and sexy) studio in Woodstock, Illinois. All designs are created and test-driven by our head designer Matthew, and all production is handled in-house via talented local stitchers and tradespeople.
One of the biggest challenges of running a strictly handmade store is staying stocked. For each item we design and sell, we have to hand-make size runs from XS to XXL. Assuming we want to have at least 5 of each size on hand, that's 25 different items to make—just for one design! Multiply this by our entire catalog and you'll understand why vacations are hard to find around here.
For most large fashion brands, having thousands of items in different colors and sizes is easy to do; especially when you control large sweatshops in Asia. This is why fast and cheap fashion is the norm, but also a source of environmental degradation and endemic poverty—not to mention clothing that falls apart in less than a year!
If there is a size or color you are looking for on our site but is currently out of stock, chances are good that we're already working on making it. So make sure you sign up for item restock notifications on the listing you are looking at, and you'll get a friendly email or a text when it's ready for you.
All of our clothing is made right here in the USA by talented artisans who are paid living wages and treated like human beings. To do this, we have to charge enough money to pay our employees and cover overhead like rent, utilities, taxes and of course, materials. As you can imagine, this adds up pretty quickly and it's one of the reasons why so few fashion companies decide to set up on American shores.
Long story short, we charge what we have to to keep the lights on while making some of the best, most unique clothing coming out of our fashion vertical, and we thank you for your support in our mission.
